Investment Analysis Group - First Three Meetings

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

The first three meetings of the Investment Analysis Group (IAG) were extremely successful. The first introductory meeting was attended by over 140 students. During this meeting the Administrative Board introduced the idea and philosophy behind IAG, and gave a general overview of future meetings.

The first presentation was on Silicon Motion (SIMO), by Chairman Ken Wee, and Board Member Alina Costica. Attended by over 150 students, this first presentation was a complete success. While Silicon Motion was not accepted into either of the IAG’s portfolios, the presentation provided an excellent opportunity to learn about the company, and discuss the merits of investing in a flash memory controller design company.

The second presentation, attended by over 140 students, was on Orange 21 (ORNG), by Board Members Ankur Mathur and Vladimir Vukicevic. Orange 21is a sunglass and sports eyewear design and manufacturing company. While the company was not accepted into the portfolios, the presentation was entertaining, and provided lively discussion on the potential short-term and long-term catalysts cited by the presenters.

The next IAG meeting will feature prominent members Dan McGirr and Miguel Leonardo presenting Outback Steakhouse (OSI) on Friday, October 14th.

Video iPod?

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

On Wednesday October 12th, Apple is hosting a special event, which has all the appearances of a product announcement.

Apple Invite for October 12th

Taking a look at the invitation, it is highly possible that Apple will announce a Video iPod. According to Apple Insider, an unnamed “reliable” source said that will be announced. It will be a 60GB player, with a Nano sized click-wheel. The hard drive is supposed to use Toshiba’s newest technology of perpendicular recording. This allows for a greater storage space, without increasing physical size.

Along with the Video iPod will be an update of the iTunes program. Taking look at the files in the newest build, there appears to be icons for video downloads, as well as an updated AirPort Express WLAN adaptor which includes an option for video output
