Investment Analysis Group - First Three Meetings
The first three meetings of the Investment Analysis Group (IAG) were extremely successful. The first introductory meeting was attended by over 140 students. During this meeting the Administrative Board introduced the idea and philosophy behind IAG, and gave a general overview of future meetings.
The first presentation was on Silicon Motion (SIMO), by Chairman Ken Wee, and Board Member Alina Costica. Attended by over 150 students, this first presentation was a complete success. While Silicon Motion was not accepted into either of the IAG’s portfolios, the presentation provided an excellent opportunity to learn about the company, and discuss the merits of investing in a flash memory controller design company.
The second presentation, attended by over 140 students, was on Orange 21 (ORNG), by Board Members Ankur Mathur and Vladimir Vukicevic. Orange 21is a sunglass and sports eyewear design and manufacturing company. While the company was not accepted into the portfolios, the presentation was entertaining, and provided lively discussion on the potential short-term and long-term catalysts cited by the presenters.
The next IAG meeting will feature prominent members Dan McGirr and Miguel Leonardo presenting Outback Steakhouse (OSI) on Friday, October 14th.
