Logical Eccentricity

Its funny how small of a community we live in… and what’s even better? one choice by a single person can have a huge cascade effect on a bunch of people, long after the actual event.

This is why I stay sober when I go to clubs now…

Here is something to think about:

How many of you remember the movie A Beautiful Mind, in particular the bar scene? I’m talking about where Nash has his insight about women and game theory.

This is the line that he says: “If we all go for the blonde and block each other, not a single one of us is going to get her. So then we go for her friends, but they will all give us the cold shoulder because no on likes to be second choice. But what if none of us goes for the blonde? We won’t get in each other’s way and we won’t insult the other girls. It’s the only way to win.”

Now that’s all good and true, but doesn’t someone need to go after the blond at some point?

The quantum probability wave functions for this week seem to be mind boggling… now if only i could make a graph of it, and show people.

And yes, I know this is a pointless post, but i need to kill a couple of minutes while my download finishes. And now that it is done, good night everyone.

I can now honestly say that I have ROFLMAO-ed. I have rolled on the floor, laughing my ass off…

The reason behind this, I’m reading stuff from http://maddox.xmission.com/, and its pretty funny. But what really pushed me over the line, was a FaceBook message that I got. I started laughing, stood up, fell down on the floor and was laughing for a good two minutes. All becasue of a facebook message…

I just had to share this, because how many other people can actually say that they have done this before?

I can’t believe this, I’m updating again, and it’s been less than a day. This is more of a rant than anything else, so be forewarned.

So, yesterday, when I leave my room in the morning, I see some construction people doing some road work outside my building. I don’t think much of it, since stuff has been going on in the neighbor for a while now. Go to classes, and come back at like 3. When I get back, I see a nice little sign posted next to the elevator. It says “Due to road work in the area, the City of New York has turned off our water service. It is expected to be resorted today, sometime between 5 and 6pm.” At this point, I think to myself, ok, whatever, they needed to shut off the water a while for some reason, and that I can do my laundry later tonight.

I go to a meeting at 7, and I get back to my room at 9:30ish, first thing I see when I enter the building… the sign now says between 10 and 11pm. This really irked me, but then when i started to talk to the guard, he said a water main was broken, and that was causing the problems. This irked me even more, they could have told us it was a broken water main causing these problems… Now, I’m like, I guess I’ll need to stay up for a while to do my laundry tonight, but that’s fine, I’ve got a bunch of other work to do also.

We eventually get the water back at about 12 midnight… the only problem, brown water for a good hour and half. So, there is no way I am going to do my laundry when the water is brown… So, my laundry has been pushed off for another day now… Eventually the water clears up and head off to sleep. I wake this morning hoping everything is fine. It is until I step into the shower. No hot water. All I get is ice cold water. Woke me up nicly, annoyed me…

This is the second time in my three years at NYU that I’ve no hot water. It is quite possible one of the most annoying thigs to deal with when you wake up.
