Korea was an amazing time. Here’s a quick overview of the things that I did while there.
The plane took off very early Friday, basically at midnight, and we landed on Saturday at 5am. We got to the hotel by like 9ish, and left our stuff there cause we couldn’t check in until noon. At that point, we were all really hungry, and our mental time was completely messed up. So we went down the block and had Korean BBQ for breakfast, it was more like a dinner of us. Something really funny, we had no idea how to order the food till we inadvertently figured out that they knew Chinese, and we could use that to talk them. After eating we walked around the city some more, tried to go to a 24 hour shopping area, but apparently we never actually made it to the right place. On the way back, we saw a stream that had some stepping stones that you could use to cross over. Ken decided to try to cartwheel over some of these. He managed to land the cartwheel, but then slipped into the river. I’ll post a video of this once I get it. So we checked in, got some more food. Food is going to be a recurring theme in this post, we ate a whole lot of food while we were there. We went to a show called NANTA, its really cool, and if you are ever in Korea check it out. Got some more food after the show, and then went back to the hotel. Pretty much all of us passed out at like 10 due to jet lag and being awake since 2am that day.
Sunday: It was freezing cold on Sunday, and we spent a while outside at this Korean folk village. The village was nice, but it was far to cold for us to fully appreciate it, plus I could have gotten some cool souvenirs from there if it weren’t so bad. That night was a welcome dinner with traditional food good stuff. Afterwards we went out with a bunch of Stern alum that were there. They showed us how to soju bomb, a shot of beer dropped into a glass of soju, which is completely not true… soju bombing is essentially the same as sake bombing, I think they just wanted us to get really drunk. Which did happen anyway.
Monday wasn’t anything great, we visited some university during the day, and took a palace tour. The cool thing was that it was snowing while we were on the palace tour, and it looked really pretty out. For dinner we went to the Coex mall, it supposed to be the biggest mall in Korea, and ate at the food court. Some of us ended up having KFC, simply because of the case study that we had read about it earlier.
Tuesday was the company visit, the highlight of the week. My class went to Hyundai and we got a tour of their factory. We got to see how cars are made. You had to be there, but it was awesome. We saw the entire process of car making, from stamping the steel, to the final assembly of the pieces.
On Wednesday I went on a tour of the DMZ. Originally I didn’t think it would be that great, but it ended up being really fun, and interesting. As it was the last night in Korea for us, we went to a university area and found a Soju Hall of Fame. Had a whole lot of soju, but overall a great time with the people that came out with us.
And then on Thursday we took the plane back home.
So that’s basically what I did while over in Korea. It was a great time, and I hope I get to visit again soon.

Korea was amazing. It was the best spring break I’ve had in a long time, and the experience completly validates my decision to come to NYU.
Pictures and recap coming real soon.
