July

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

I haven’t been around much of this month; it has been a very crazy and hectic month which is finally over. :-) So, here is a recap for those of you that don’t know what was happening.

On July 3rd, my brother, my father and I flew to India for my brothers wedding. We landed in India on the 4th, did not do much that day, since it was the middle of the night. The next day, the 5th, my brother, a couple of his friends, my cousin and me all went to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. This was my first time seeing it, and it was breathtaking. There is building that surrounds the Taj, so that when you are up close to it, you can’t see anything. What’s more, from far away it looks really small and unimpressive. So, as you walk through the gate, and see the Taj for the first time it is an amazing site. It is definitely well worth visiting, even the middle of the summer.

Next, July 6th, our family from all over came to Delhi. Estentially, Delhi was a big meeting ground for all of us, so we could get organized and ready to go. We left Delhi on the 7th for Jaipur, where the actual wedding took place. The whole thing lasted three days, so we returned to Delhi on the 9th. Stayed in Delhi for another day, then went to Chandighar for two days, came back to Delhi and flew home early morning on the 14th.

So, we are back in the US on July 14th after spending 10 days in India. The following weekend, the 22nd, we went to Nashville for a reception there. More flying as a result, flew to Nashville Saturday morning, and then back to NY on Sunday morning. Finally, the last weekend in July, the 29th, we had a reception here in NY. This weekend was more hectic simply because we had so many people over the house. The reception was great, over 200 people came; and we all had a great time.

I know I promised pictures in a previous post, so here they are: http://community.webshots.com/user/anks329  Over 500 pictures in total! Enjoy!

Review: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

I finally got around to watching the first Pirates movie, and it was excellent. A lot of people had built up my expectations for the movie, and it lived up to them. The story basically revolves around a crew of pirates that are trying to rid themselves of a curse.

While there are not a whole lot of action scenes, the action is well placed through out the movie and the fights are choreographed beautifully. Nicely inter-spaced with the action is a blend of humor and drama. The humor works great in the movie; its not slapstick, nor is it overly dense. It manages to create a good balance between to the two for an action movie. Finally, perhaps one the of best aspects of the movie are the visual effects. While there is nothing spectacular, the effects are very good when you keep in mind that the movie was made three years ago. I particularly liked the effect of the pirates changing from humans to skeletons in the last fight sequence; very well done.

Overall, this is a great movie, and you should see it if you haven’t already. 8 out of 10. Up next is hopefully the next Pirates movie, if I get time to watch it this weekend, that is.

Review: Narnia

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

I finally got around to watching Narnia; it is spectacular. The visuals, when the children enter Narnia for the first time are simply breathtaking. The landscape in the battle sequences… wow… it will be even better if/when the movie is released on a next-generation format. About the rest of the movie, it pulls you right into the story where four war ravished siblings Lucy, Susan, Peter and Edmund (amazing performances by all) are sent from their homes to the relative safety of “the professor’s” country estate. During a game of hid-and-seek, Lucy discovers a passage through a wardrobe into the wonderful world of Narnia. This starts of story filled with betrayal, courage, sacrifice, redemption and hope.
The actors and the animated characters are wonderful. I know this movie is a little old, but the animation is extremely realistic, and Aslan the lion, is believable as a lion. Bottom line, this movie is excellent, and if you haven’t seen it already, you definitely should watch it.

Mitwa

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

I heard this song on a countdown, but as an honorable mention on them. And the song got stuck in my mind. I spent the last few days hunting down the song, and found out that its from an upcoming movie, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, set to be released by the end of this summer.

For your pleasure, here are the lyrics to the song, just don’t ask for a translation (I’m still working on that).

Love will find a way
Jaaniye heeriye
Love will find a way
Jaaniye heeriye
Mere maanye bata de tu
Kis uur chala hai tu
Kya paya nahi tu ne
Kya dhund raha hai tu
Jo hai aankahi
Jo hai aansuni
Woh baat kya hai bata ..

Mitwa
Kahe dhadkane tujhse kya
Mitwa
Yeh khud se tho na tu chupa

Love will find a way
Jaaniye heeriye
Ho mere maanye bata de tu
Kis uur chala hai tu
Kya paya nahi tu ne
Kya dhund raha hai tu
Jo hai aankahi
Jo hai aansuni
Woh baat kya hai bata

Mitwa
Kahe dhadkane tujhse kya
Mitwa
Yeh khud se tho na tu chupa

Jeevan dhagar mein
Prem nagar mein
Jeevan dhagar mein
Prem nagar mein
Aaya nazar mein jab se koi hai
Tu soch tha hai
Tu pooch ta hai
Jiski kaami thi kya yeh wohi
Hai haan yeh wohi
Hai haan yeh wohi haiiiii
Tu aik pyaasa aur yeh naadi hai
Kahey nahi isko tho khul ke bataye
Jo hai aankahi
Jo hai aansuni
Woh baat kya hai bata

Mitwa
Kahe dhadkane tujhse kya
Mitwa
Yeh khud se tho na tu chupa

Ho, teri nigahein
Pa gayee rahein
Par tu yeh sochey jaon na jaon
Yeh zindagi jo
Hai nachti tho
Kyun beriyoun mein hai tere paaon
Preet ki dhun par nach le pagal
Uur tha ghar hai
Uur ne de aanchal
Kahey koi
Apne ko
Aise tarsaye ..

Jo hai aankahi
Jo hai aansuni
Woh baat kya hai bata ..

Mitwa
Kahe dhadkane tujhse kya
Mitwa
Yeh khud se tho na tu chupa

Mere maanye bata de tu
Kis uur chala hai tu
Kya paya nahi tu ne
Kya dhund raha hai tu
