2007 Graduation

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

According to the NYU Commencement website, the 2007 graduation will take place in Washington Square Park! Since last year, New York City has been planning to start construction in the park. They want to make the area around the fountain level, and reposition the fountain so it is in line with the Arch as you look down 5th Ave. Once construction starts, NYU’s graduation ceremony won’t take place in the park. I know last year they had picked Shea Stadium as their backup site. I’m pretty sure NYU would use Shea if the need arises.

But I get to graduate in the park :-)

Senior Year

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

Senior year is getting scary… Earlier this week I had my senior portraits for the yearbook. This in it self wasn’t too bad, but then yesterday, I got an email saying that I needed to “register for graduation.” Here at NYU, in order to graduate, you need to register and apply for it. Once you do that, they check all your records and make sure you’ve taken all the classes, and met all the requirements for graduation. I think that was the scariest part… I’m locked on the course towards graduation, no changes at this point.

As a side note, Stern is having Class Wars this week. Basically its a week long competition between all the classes. I was on the Quiz Bowl team for the Senior Class yesterday, and we destroyed everyone else. By destroyed I mean that we had 3200 points going into the final question, while the second place team had 100 points. It was a great victory for us after not doing so well in some of the other events.

A Return to the Classic

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

I was listing to some old music on my computer and I came across a gem of a song: Aaja Nach Lae by Bally Sagoo. I used to really like it back in high school, and its great to hear it again. The main reason I like the song are the lyrics, pure genius I have to say. For those of you too lazy to look for them yourself, here they are:

Oh ek teri kashni jahi akh chaniye
Peepli ta pat tera lak chaniye
Ek teri kashni jahi akh chaniye
Peepli ta pat tera lak chaniye
O hega ke nahi hega
Ni hega ke nahi hega
Hega ke nahi hega sanu shak chaniye
Maar ke hulara ghera la de balliye
Maar ke hulara ghera la de balliye
Balle balle gide che kara de balliye
Balle balle gide che kara de balliye
Balle balle gide che kara de balliye
Balle balle gide che kara de balliye

Ek teri suhi suhi sang balliye,
Ek teri suhi suhi sang balliye ni teri sang balliye
Ek teri suhi suhi sang balliye,
Ban te tu chaaje pas rang balliye,ni aj rang balliye,
Banga nara banga chan gaade balliye,
Banga nara banga chan gaade balliye,
Balle balle gidde che kara de balliye
Balle balle gidde che kara de balliye
Balle balle gidde che kara de balliye
Balle balle gidde che kara de balliye

I might translate them for you if you ask… but if you want, look on YouTube for the music video. It ranks as one of the top ten music videos in my view.

Idea

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

Possible investment idea: about a week ago i was looking at companies that I could possible present at IAG. I don’t know why, but for some reason I was looking at the aerospace industry. I think I was trying find a company that made rockets, or something along those lines. However, one of the companies that stood out in my mind was Ballistic Recovery Systems Inc. ( BRSI.OB). This company is really cool, and what they do. Their product is a whole plane parachute. The parachute, if deployed bring the entire plane down in a safe manner. Clearly, it won’t work for the huge jets that Boeing or Airbus makes, but it works well for the small prop planes.

The real reason I remembered this company today, the company was in the news in a huge way yesterday. The plane that crashed into the New York City building was actually equipped with their product. The plane had a parachute. While it doesn’t seem as if it was deployed, people are hearing about it; which is always a good thing. This company might be worth a second look (I’m sure a whole lot of people are thinking this right now also).

Side note, I’m not qualified to give investment advice, so please don’t follow any thing I say (I really don’t want to get sued :-) )
