Rain…

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

For the past few days it has been pouring… Sunday was a complete washout, Monday was more rain, Tuesday was overcast and sprinkles… Today, still looks overcast… Where is the sun, when it come back? I am a creature of the sun, I need light!

And this whole shooting at Virgina Tech was terrible, all of our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones that lost anyone there.

Adobe CS3

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

Adobe has started shipping their Creative Suite 3 application today. The version on sale now are the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium and Design Standard, and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium and Web Standard. Basically these are the typical Adobe application minus the video and audio editing programs. Personally, I think the Web Premium version is what I would get. It has new versions of Dreamweaver, Flash Professional, Fireworks, Contribute, Photoshop Extended, Illustrator, and Acrobat 8 Professional.  I really want to see how Adobe has integrated Dreamweaver and Flash into their existing application such as Photoshop, Illustrator and so on.

Senior Legacy

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

As a graduating senior (man, it feels weird to say that) I had the opportunity to participate in Stern’s Senior Legacy. As a part of Senior Legacy you make a four-year pledge to give back to Stern. There are different amounts that you can pledge, but for certain levels you get something in return. The really cool thing is that my class has  raised a record level of $92,000 for the campaign. The money is going to be used to get furniture for the new third floor lounges that are currently under construction, plus the Dean decided to match our donations, so it can have an even bigger impact.

Enough of that. The swag that I’ve gotten; VIP tickets to Stern’s graduation ceremonies, a pint glass, and a Seniors sweatshirt.

Here’s a pic of the pint glass:

And the back of the sweatshirt:

Its cool stuff… pledge a donation if you haven’t yet.

Weekend Overview

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

Well, this has been a great weekend. Here are some of the major highlights:

  • Thursday night we had a little celebration in honor of taking the final pledge quiz for DSP
  • Friday night I met up with my co-workers from Johnson Associates for a bit, went the IAG meeting and then went around the city with them. On the way back, I was waiting in the 23rd Street NRW subway station for more than half an hour; I could have walked home in much time… I hate how long subways take late night to come to the station.
  • Saturday was DSP installation. Really cool ceremonies and rituals that I can’t explain here :-p. But all 48 of us crossed, and became brothers in the day. Later that night at the banquet the Alpha Chapter of DSP, the NYU Chapter was re-activated. I think this was the highlight of the banquet, the food was meh, nothing amazing. But getting that charter and the recognition for it was awesome. Lot of pictures were taken, I’ve got to get copies from people since I didn’t have a camera with me. Then after the banquet was the after-party that I organized at Proof. It was fun, music wasn’t all that it could have been. But I think the people there had a good time dancing and partying the night away. The after-party was followed by an after-after-party… nothing to say about that.
  • Sunday was spent doing work, staying inside to stay out of the rain. Nothing too exciting but a nice end to the weekend.

All in all, it was a great weekend; its sad, only a handful more of weekends left in the school year.

Thursday Thirteen: 13 Jobs I want to try

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under Thursday 13, blog

Thursday Thirteen: 13 Jobs I want to try at some point in my life

  1. Greeting card writer - it would be cool to sit around the whole day and think of witty comments and remarks to put in greeting cards.
  2. Kindergarten teacher - recently volunteered through junior Achievement and it was so cool teaching little kids and it would be a great job to have
  3. Travel around the world - I know this is not a real job, but wouldn’t it be awesome if that were your job? If you got paid to just travel to new places all the time?
  4. Postal worker - just to see what makes postal workers “go postal…”
  5. Sorting mail in a post office - ever since I saw Men in Black 2 I’ve wanted to see how it actually works, if there is an alien sitting in the machine sorting the mail :-)
  6. Astronaut - I want to go into space. I’ve wanted to be an astronaut since middle school when we had to a report on what we wanted to be when we grew up
  7. Sniper - I know it sounds really weird that I’d want to be a sniper, but if you have ever seen the movie “Clear and Present Danger,” you’ll know why. In one scene, the sniper makes it within like 5 yards of the commanders while the people searching for him are looking a good 15 yards behind his position. That, and “Enemy at the Gates” was another great sniper movie
  8. Singer - I’m a terrible singer, but it would be a cool job to have to go around singing all the time
  9. CIA Agent - throughout middle and high school I was reading Tom Clancy novels about Jack Ryan, and since then I’ve wanted to work for the CIA or the NSA.
  10. Writer for television shows - there are so many good tv shows out there and it would an amazing opportunity to contribute to them, but beyond just that, writing new shows and improving current shows that aren’t so good would be fun
  11. Photography teacher - I love photography, and my teacher this past semester was so laid back and chill. It seems like a great combination of imparting knowledge and having fun
  12. A doctor - saving people’s lives… very cool… only problem is I don’t like blood… that might be a slight problem…
  13. Time Traveler - again, not a real job, but I would love to travel in time, see the future, go into the past and watch various events taking place
