I finally decided to buy the movie; as before, I highly recommend it to anyone that might like Korean movies at all.

Review: Charlie Wilson’s War

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

I went in expecting a mediocre movie, nothing too special. This movie delivers, it far exceeded my expectations and was a wonderful movie. The movie is about a no-name representative from Texas who is in partly in charge of the covert black-ops budget for the CIA. Charlie Wilson, through his connections with other representatives manages to increase this budget, specifically for Afghanistan from $5 million to $500 million.  This takes place during the Cold War, so the money (along with matching funds from the Sudias) goes to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan and eventually drive them out.

The main reason this movie is so good is because it is based on true events. This actually happened during the Cold War. The acting is superb; Tom Hanks, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Julia Roberts all give great performances. While there is not a whole lot of action (that’s not the point of the movie), the plot line and story easily makes up for it.

If you are mildly interested in history, I definitely recommend you check this movie out.

Resolutions for 2008

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

Typically around this time each year I post a list of resolutions of the current year. But by the middle of year, I’ve usually forgotten them, or have broken them a long time ago. The resolutions have never really worked for me before. So this year I’ve decided to do something slightly different. Instead of a couple of resolutions, I’ve created a four year plan.

This four year plan lays out my short/intermediate goals that I want to complete. The first two years are fairly well thought out with a good amount of details. The last two years are a little fuzzy, but I’ve got the general idea of where I want to be/what I want to be doing at that point as well. In order to keep me motivated, I’ve printed out the plan and taped it to the wall next to my computer screen. This way I’ll always be seeing it, and I can keep my mind on it. Also, as I complete a task, I’ll buy myself off my Amazon Wish List (Still building it).

I might put parts of the plan online at some point. As a finish something pertaining to my plan, I’ll probably end up posting about it, along with whatever I end up getting.

Review: Superbad

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

McLovin! The greatest character in the movie is Fogell who gets a fake id in the name of McLovin. Superbad is a story about high schooler seniors partying it up before the start of the summer. This movie follows in the footsteps of Knocked Up and 40 Year Virgin.

The movie centers around a group of seniors trying to buy alcohol so they can go to a party and get girlfriends for the summer. There are just far too many funny scenes to describe here. The acting is what you would expect, nothing spectacular.  But the beauty is, the lack of good acting doesn’t distract from the story. All in all, I found the movie hilarious.

The movie is hilarious, and if you enjoy comedies you’ll definitely enjoy this movie. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch it next.
