2008 in Review
So, 2008 has been over for a couple of day and it’s time of my annual year in review post. 2008 was a fairly relaxing, easy year with nothing too crazy or exciting happening. Let me clarify, there were plenty of exciting things, just not a major event like in years past. For example, in 2007 I graduated, in 2006 I went to Korea for week, etc. In 2008, there was no such event. Either way, plenty of things happened.
The year really got started with my brother and sister-in-law bought their house and moved in. I spent a few weeks helping them move, paint and set up the new place. It’s a very nice place and looks great now.
July was a fun month, I went to Atlanta for the weekend of the 4th, and got to play with fireworks. I’ve never really played with fireworks like these, so it was a real treat. I got to set off a whole lot of big fireworks; in all I think we lit close to a hundred fireworks over the weekend. Also, I July I got my new cell phone, the 3G iPhone. There’s a whole long story over me getting the phone, but I covered that in a previous post, so I’m not going to rehash that here. Either way, the phone is really nice, and I love it. Now that the soft unlock is out, I might end up unlocking the phone also so I can use it in India when I go next.
Later in the year, I officially started up my company. Basically, I incorporated my company into an LLC. I wanted to be able to keep a separate bank account and split it from my personal accounts. So far, I haven’t done much with it yet, it’s sitting there not doing anything. Hopefully, I’ll be able to start working with it soon, and making money off it.
This basically brings us up to December which was a pretty packed month actually. I took the level 1 CFA, just for the heck of taking the test to see if I actually learned anything in Stern. Right after the CFA test, I went to the Stern Alumni ball. It was a wonderful night of partying/dancing and having fun with people at dinner.
The last week of December was in India visiting family. I would have posted that I was going to India before I went, but it was supposed to be a surprise so I didn’t want to post anything about it before I went. The next post is going to be about the trip and links to pictures.
I think that about sums up 2008. It was a good year; let’s see what 2009 holds in store for me.
