Review: Wanted

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

I went into Wanted expecting a mindless action movie, where the plot really wouldn’t matter. I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. Not only did it have a plot, the plot actually made sense and was coherent. The visuals were stunning, and they created very impressive action sequences. I read somewhere that this movie might do for Blu-Ray what the Matrix did for DVD. After watching the movie, I think I have to agree. When it is released on BR, I think people will be amazed by the quality and blu-ray adoption wil increase.

Review: Charlie Wilson’s War

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

I went in expecting a mediocre movie, nothing too special. This movie delivers, it far exceeded my expectations and was a wonderful movie. The movie is about a no-name representative from Texas who is in partly in charge of the covert black-ops budget for the CIA. Charlie Wilson, through his connections with other representatives manages to increase this budget, specifically for Afghanistan from $5 million to $500 million.  This takes place during the Cold War, so the money (along with matching funds from the Sudias) goes to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan and eventually drive them out.

The main reason this movie is so good is because it is based on true events. This actually happened during the Cold War. The acting is superb; Tom Hanks, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Julia Roberts all give great performances. While there is not a whole lot of action (that’s not the point of the movie), the plot line and story easily makes up for it.

If you are mildly interested in history, I definitely recommend you check this movie out.

Review: Superbad

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

McLovin! The greatest character in the movie is Fogell who gets a fake id in the name of McLovin. Superbad is a story about high schooler seniors partying it up before the start of the summer. This movie follows in the footsteps of Knocked Up and 40 Year Virgin.

The movie centers around a group of seniors trying to buy alcohol so they can go to a party and get girlfriends for the summer. There are just far too many funny scenes to describe here. The acting is what you would expect, nothing spectacular.  But the beauty is, the lack of good acting doesn’t distract from the story. All in all, I found the movie hilarious.

The movie is hilarious, and if you enjoy comedies you’ll definitely enjoy this movie. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch it next.

Review: Resident Evil: Extinction

Published by AnksConsulting LLC under blog

I watched this movie last night, and I was disapointed. Since when did Alice gain super-human powers? For some reason, I don’t remember her having any crazy powers in the earlier movies. Also, when did the Umbrella Corporation gain the power to remotely control Alice? Again something that I don’t remember seeing in the earlier movies. But apparently, according to Wikipedia, all of this happened in the second movie. I guess I didn’t see the second one, or I don’t remember all of it.

So, since those two points are moot, the rest of the movie is good. The acion is solid, and the plot moves well. The end leaves you wondering what will happen next, ready for the next sequel.

The movie is worth watching if you like action movies and have nothing else to do. There is no great need to see it right away, watch it if/when you get time for it.
